Linnet prefers her bird friends to people. She prefers mist and twilight to sunshine. The birdcage door is always open, a comfort rather than a cage.
Hello! Oh things have been a bit hectic the last couple of weeks...ok perhaps not 'hectic' but certainly 'busy'.
A trip to Derbyshire to drop off these two paintings for this exhibition, an afternoon tea party (which was lovely), a visit from dad and step-mum for a few days, a flurry of making, this craft fair and this arts trail and another flurry of making. Whew. That does not include the wee crash and burn I had half way through and at the end where I could not do a thing but lay on the couch and embroider cuffs for 2 whole days due to back and neck pain. Ouch.
However I cannot think of a time when I have been more content. What a life I have, creating every day. Waking up in the morning to decide whether I might paint, felt, or stitch. I am a very lucky girl and am loving every minute of it. Long may it continue!
Sorry for the '4 posts in one day'. I still have not sorted out my issues with uploading images through typepad and am having to do it through flickr which means one image per post but I just had to show you my most recent dolls which were listed on etsy last night.
Two have sold already including Linnet. I think she may just be my favourite one so far. I love her so much that I was sorely tempted to keep her. Infact when I was talking to Mark about it he even offered to 'purchase' her for me as a gift as I really can't afford to be keeping the things that are ultimately making my living. I declined, but not without a great deal of regret. Nevertheless I know she is going to a great home and I shall wish her well on her travels. I do think though that out of my next collection of characters I will have to keep the one that most tugs at my heart strings!
I am hoping to work on a new pattern today, but also have ideas for a more ambitious doll which I would love to work on next week once this weekends Ladybay Arts and Community Festival is over. Another busy weekend where I will be exhibiting artwork and also have a table in the school as part of this wonderful weekend which will have many venues open as part of the festival.
Enjoy the remainder of your week!
I will take good care of her, Gillian!

I love the notion of an open birdcage door as a form of comfort. I love it love it!!!

I'll be watching your dolls as I prepare for the next gift season! They are so lovely and thought provoking. That was a nice gesture of hubby to offer to purchase your favorite for you. So sweet!
