I do love blue......
Finally I have some finished work to show you!!! Hopefully it is just the beginning of a new creative and inspired phase for me. I have been frantically working even more in my sketchbook and am just really excited about what I am doing. And that of course is a very good feeling.
These 2 pieces were completed yesterday. The first is on box canvas and the second on paper and fabric with burnt edges and lots of stitching into her costume and hair. As ever they both feature lots of blue. It is funny as I think a while ago if you had ever asked me what my favourite colour was, blue would have been the last thing which would have sprung to mind - but now - well it is clear that blue it is - in all it's shades and variations. I just can't get enough of it.
I know I really should have taken better photo's of these but my camera is going in for repair and I using a combination of a borrowed camera which shortly has to go back to its owner, and my old tiny digital which has a very temperamental battery/battery charger so goodness knows how long that will last.
I am planning on doing a shop update some time next week so shall let you know nearer the time.
I also must give you this link to an incredible artist - Suzi Blu whose blog I just discovered. (Edit - sorry I got the link wrong here - this should be the correct one now) (As if I need yet another blog to read!!!!) - but really you have to check it out. Not only is her work incredible but I am so inspired by how she lives for her art, I mean truly lives and breathes it. Her videos are brilliant - little snippets of her work processes as well as tasks you get you sketching and journalling. A real inspiration.
This is a tiny little preview of one of a few things that will be appearing in my shop - postcard books!! I am so excited about these and they are alot of fun to make. They are a bit of a whoopsie item! I have had a stack of postcards of mine kicking about for ages - the ones that did not meet my stringent quality control!! ie the ones that printed up slightly out of line, a wee bit squint and wonky when I was first printing up my own postcards.
Well they have been sitting there waiting for me to think of what to do with them - I hate waste and could never have just thrown them out - I thought about gessoing and painting over them but yesterday it hit me that I could practice my developing bookbinding skills and make little notebooks out of them.
Each one will be different - with a different front and back cover and gold stitched edges - I will be showing more tomorrow!! They are not available in my shop yet as i want to get them all finished (there will only be a very limited number - seven I think - I didn't make that many printing mistakes!!) but i will let you know when.
So that is all for today! I was dying to go to the studio today but am stuck at home waiting on my camera being collected for repair so back up to the loft it is for me. Have a wonderful day!! xxx

Love your journal pages, do you stitch on the paer outside of the book? Or can you sew the pages while they are still in your journal?
